How I work

New patient enquiries

I can be contacted either via email: or by phone: 07810 122313.

Whether you decide to email or telephone me, it is helpful, in this first contact, if you can let me know briefly about your enquiry so that we can decide whether I will be able to assist you.

If I am able to assist, we will arrange an initial consultation that typically lasts one and a half hours.

If we decide that I am not able to help, I will try to direct you to the service that can help you.

After the initial consultation, we will schedule further appointments (usually 4-6), during which we can explore together the difficulties you may be experiencing and think together of the best way forward.

Irrespective of the age of the child, it is vitally important that parents / carers attend the initial consultation appointment, so that they can describe their understanding of the issues at stake. Only following on from this initial appointment (or appointments), can separate appointments be made for the child to be seen on his or her own.

Once the assessment is complete, a review session will be offered and appropriate treatment recommended.

The most relevant psychotherapeutic intervention will be arranged, either individually for the child or the adult, for the family as a whole, or for a combination of both. The therapy sessions initially take place on a weekly basis and the length of treatment and frequency of the sessions will differ according to the treatment plan.

The family’s GP holds the overall view of their patients’ health and it is important that they are aware of the family’s involvement with me so that they can continue to support the patient appropriately. With your permission, I will write to your / your child’s GP about my assessment and treatment.
